Emergency Box Office Collection Day 7: Kangana Ranaut's Film Set To Surpass Rs 14 Crores In First Week

Kangana Ranaut's film, Emergency, has sparked significant discussion since its release. The movie, which she both stars in and directs, depicts the Indian emergency period with Ranaut playing Indira Gandhi. Despite initial interest, the film is struggling to draw audiences to cinemas a week after its premiere. It features notable performances by Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, and Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Upon its announcement, Emergency generated considerable buzz due to its focus on a critical era in Indian history. Kangana Ranaut's involvement as lead actress, director, writer, and co-producer suggested a personal exploration of this period. The film aims to portray former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's life during this time with great detail. Many were curious about how the film would fare at the box office given its controversial theme and high expectations.

Kangana's Emergency Expected to Cross Rs 14 Crores

The film has seen declining numbers since its first Monday. On day six (first Wednesday), Emergency earned Rs 87 lakhs according to Sacnilk reports. This brought the total earnings to Rs 13.27 crores. Despite the anticipation surrounding it, the movie struggles to reach Rs 1 crore daily at the box office.

Based on current trends, Emergency is expected to see further declines in revenue on day seven (first Thursday). Predictions suggest it will earn between Rs 50-80 lakhs today. By the end of its first week, the film is likely to reach around Rs 14 crores in total collections.

Meanwhile, controversy surrounds Emergency once again as the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) called for a ban on its release in Punjab. They argue that it could incite anger within the Sikh community. SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami addressed Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann regarding this issue. Kangana responded by saying: "This is complete harassment of art and the artist... I have utmost respect for all religions... This is a complete lie and propaganda to tarnish my image and harm my film #Emergency."
