Emergency Box Office Collection Day 4: Kangana Ranaut's Film Faces Over 70% Decline Amid Controversy
Kangana Ranaut, known for her roles in films like Queen and Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, is making headlines with her new film, Emergency. This historical drama, which she directed, wrote, and co-produced, delves into the life of Indira Gandhi during the contentious Indian emergency period. The film's trailer generated significant public interest and discussion, making it one of the year's most anticipated releases.
Emergency features a strong cast that adds depth to its narrative. Anupam Kher portrays Jayaprakash Narayan, while Shreyas Talpade plays Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Milind Soman takes on the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. The film also includes performances by Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry, and Satish Kaushik. Despite high expectations and extensive promotion, the film has received mixed reviews but continues to perform respectably at the box office.

Emergency experienced a significant decline in earnings on its first Monday after a steady opening weekend. According to Sacnilk reports, the film earned Rs 1 crore on day four, bringing its total collection to Rs 11.35 crores. This represents a drop of over 74% from previous days.
The movie saw a sharp decrease in audience turnout on its first Monday. Reports indicate that Emergency had an occupancy rate of over 18% on Sunday but struggled with only 6.50% occupancy on Monday.
Controversy surrounds Emergency as the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) called for a ban in Punjab, fearing it might upset the Sikh community. SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami addressed this concern in a letter to Punjab's chief minister Bhagwant Mann. Kangana Ranaut responded by saying, "This is complete harassment of art and the artist... I have utmost respect for all religions... This is a complete lie and propaganda to tarnish my image and harm my film #Emergency."
