Divya Prabha Discusses Bold Scene Controversy In Award-Winning Film All We Imagine As Light
Divya Prabha Addresses Bold Scene Controversy: The film "All We Imagine As Light" has been making waves recently. Directed by Payal Kapadia, it features Kani Kusruti and Divya Prabha in leading roles. After securing the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival, the movie was released in theatres last week. A semi-nude scene involving Divya Prabha has sparked significant criticism. Here's what Divya has to say about this controversy.
Divya Prabha expressed her surprise at "All We Imagine As Light" winning an award at Cannes. However, she anticipated the controversy surrounding her bold scene in the film. According to Kerala Kaumudi, Divya clarified, "It's a movie and it has characters in it. If such scenes are mandatory for the smooth journey of a story, it must be accommodated. I don't think that's a mistake. Some audiences misinterpreted the nude scenes in the film." Despite having no prior experience with such scenes, she embraced the role without hesitation.

The actress elaborated on her decision to perform the scene, stating, "I have never done scenes like this in any film so far. So there must be some reason why I decided to act as in the script right? This won't be a problem at all in Hollywood." She noted that some viewers focus solely on nudity rather than understanding the film's message.
Divya further explained that critics should consider that it's been 30 years since an Indian film won an award at Cannes. She questioned whether the movie would have gained global attention if its concept wasn't compelling. She remarked, "What everyone sees as a big issue is the kind of scenes that this character has done."
The actress believes that audiences should appreciate the film's broader narrative instead of fixating on specific scenes. Her comments highlight a cultural difference between Indian cinema and Hollywood regarding bold content.
