Diljit Dosanjh Endorses PM Modi's Vision Of Making India A Global Music And Entertainment Hub
Legendary Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on New Year's Day. They discussed India's potential to become a global centre for music and entertainment. This meeting, held at the Prime Minister's residence, has generated excitement about the upcoming Waves World Music Summit 2025.
Their conversation was shared in a video on PM Modi's official YouTube channel. It has sparked interest in the Waves World Music Summit 2025. Diljit suggested hosting a global music festival to highlight India's unique talent, similar to international events like Coachella.

"Even if we're sitting at a dhaba in Rajasthan and someone sings melodiously, their art rivals that of professional performers. India has such immense, untapped talent," Diljit remarked. He emphasised the potential for India to host an event that attracts audiences worldwide.
During their discussion, PM Modi shared his vision: "I have a dream". He elaborated, "I have been thinking about it for many years, but now I am doing it. (The) Waves (Summit). This is my proposition." He highlighted India's vast creative industry and expressed his intention to create a significant movement called WAVES.
Diljit listened intently as PM Modi explained how India could soon become a world musical stage. "I am getting the world's creative talents here (In India) during April (2025). Now the centre of the world's creativity will be India," PM Modi said.
He also recounted his meeting with Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel, where he described how India's daily life is steeped in music, with musical notes (Raaga) for every part of the day from sunrise to sunset.
Upcoming WAVES Summit
The five-day World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) will take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from February 5-9, 2025. The Waves World Music Summit 2025 will be part of this larger event.
The Waves World Music Summit 2025 is set for April and aims to establish India as a hub for global creativity and collaboration. Inspired by events like the World Economic Forum in Davos, it will feature music, arts, and cultural discussions.
PM Modi announced India's plans to organise and host WAVES during his last 'Mann Ki Baat' radio address on December 29, 2024. This initiative underscores India's commitment to becoming a leading force in global creative industries.
