Dia Mirza Celebrates Son's Birthday By Planting Trees In Uttarakhand
This May, actress Dia Mirza celebrated her son Avyaan's third birthday with an eco-friendly party at her home garden. The event was zero waste, plastic-free, and green-spirited. Upcycled cloth banners, reusable cups made from crop waste, bamboo cutlery, and bagasse plates were used. A unique touch was offering trees as return gifts to the young attendees.
The trees were planted in Uttarakhand with the help of Grow-Trees.com, which is celebrating its 14th anniversary this year. Dia has previously collaborated with Grow-Trees.com and chose to support their Trees for EcotourismTM project in Uttarakhand this time.

Dia stated, "We owe the gift of a healthy planet to our children. Every tree we plant today will help mitigate climate change, beat pollution, and restore biodiversity. Simple actions can change the discourse around climate change. We can start by making climate-conscious choices and expanding the green cover of eco-sensitive areas."
Her green initiative will support the plantation project in the Kyarkuli Bhatta Van Panchayat of Mussoorie district in Uttarakhand. This enhanced green cover will nurture biodiversity, sequester carbon, promote ecotourism, and generate rural employment for the local population.
Mr Pradip Shah, co-founder of Grow-Trees.com, highlighted that Uttarakhand's snowfall frequency has reduced due to deforestation, construction activities, and global warming. The unstable rain cycle is impacting the local economy, primarily dependent on tourism. Planting more trees is a simple way to counter climate change and reduce its impact on tourism, local ecology, and livelihoods.
Grow-Trees.com's Achievements
Since its inception in 2010, Grow-Trees.com has planted over 19 million trees across 23 Indian states and generated over 1.6 million workdays. The Trees for EcotourismTM project in Uttarakhand has planted over 400,000 trees. These include species such as Madhavi Latha (Hiptage Benghalensis), Aadu/ Peach (Prunuspersica), White orchid tree (Bauhinia picta), Redbud tree (Oklahoma Redbud tree), Guava (Psidiumguajava), Kandis (Garciniacowa), among others.
This initiative not only aims to restore ecological balance but also supports local communities by providing employment opportunities through sustainable practices.
