Deva Box Office Collection Day 1: Shahid Kapoor's Film Opens To Low Morning Show Occupancy
Shahid Kapoor, known for his versatile acting, is making headlines with his latest film, Deva. This crime action thriller is directed by Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews and features Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati in key roles. Deva has been eagerly awaited by audiences, marking Shahid's first collaboration with Pooja and Andrrews' Bollywood debut.
Deva is a remake of the 2013 Malayalam film Mumbai Police, with Shahid portraying a fierce cop. The film's trailer, songs, and Shahid-Pooja's chemistry have generated considerable buzz. The anticipation translated into Rs 1.67 crores from advance bookings, indicating strong initial interest.

Despite the anticipation, Deva had a modest start at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the film recorded a morning show occupancy of 5.87% on its first Friday.
Since its announcement, Deva has been compared to Shahid's 2019 hit Kabir Singh. However, Deva's opening day morning show occupancy of 5.87% falls short of Kabir Singh's impressive 45%-50% footfall during its release.
Discussing his transformation for Deva, Shahid shared with Zoom: "So, what I wanted to do with this character was, I didn't want to make him metrosexual, chiseled-no. I felt like he should look very rugged. In my head, I always thought he should be like a bulldog. "They're these broad-shouldered, stout beings. They don't have much hair, and they look tough. Aise lagta hai na, maar denge aise. Mera feeling wahi tha ki he should be this tough guy. They're raw, and they look strong. Jisko dekhke lagega, isse panga maat lo. Isse dur raho. Toh mujhe thoda woh vibe chahiye tha".
The film's performance in the coming days will determine if it can gain momentum at the box office despite its slow start compared to previous hits like Kabir Singh.
