Cannes 2024: Deepti Sadhwani's Journey Of Overcoming Designer Collaboration Hurdles
Cannes 2024: This year, while many big stars like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aditi Rao Hydari grabbed attention with their appearances at Cannes, another individual made headlines as the first from India to grace the red carpet. Actress and singer Deepti Sadhwani became the talk of the town.
Deepti wore multiple outfits at the Cannes red carpet, but her first look in an orange outfit particularly stood out. In a recent interview with Filmibeat, Deepti shared insights into how she planned her look for the prestigious film festival. She also disclosed that big designers were initially hesitant to collaborate with her.

The actress revealed, "Initially, I was confused whether I should wear an Indian or an international designer. But, I was sure that at least one outfit I will wear of an Indian designer to promote our country. So, I was thinking about big designers, but I will be honest, big designers were not ready to collaborate with me because I had never attended Cannes, and they were like 'Is it fake or real? Will she actually going to attend Cannes?'. So, we were trying with big designers but it didn't happen. Then me and my best friend, we went scouting for outfits and we realised, why can't we make it?"
"Approximately 45 days before Cannes we started making, we thought in 10-15 days the outfit will be ready. We got a material of 100 meter it got over, we got another 100 meter that also got over, and we got another 100 meter from which 80-90 meter was used. So for design we were confused, but I was clear that I want a long trail for the first look because it is eye catchy for the people. Earlier, there were two people working on the outfit, but later 4-5 people were working on it day and night, and just before 1 hour to the flight that outfit got completed," Deepti added.
Deepti has certainly become a prominent figure post-Cannes. She revealed in our interview that she has been receiving numerous offers since her appearance at the festival.
