Chandra Dev: Piyush Sahdev Leads New Streaming Series Exploring India's Vedic History
Hari Om OTT has launched 'Chandra Dev,' a series exploring the life of the celestial deity, now available for streaming. Featuring Piyush Sahdev in the lead role, this show is a significant addition to India's first OTT platform focused on Vedic history narratives. 'Chandra Dev' is the first in the 'NavaGraha' series, which will cover stories of nine celestial bodies and deities central to Indian lore.
The series offers an in-depth look at Chandra Dev's journey, focusing on his battles, love, devotion, and redemption. Piyush Sahdev shared his experience, stating, "I took on this role because no one had ever told the story of Chandra Dev, and I believed audiences would be curious about his life—why the lunar eclipse happens, and what drives his powerful energy. Also during the shoot, I rarely spoke to anybody on the set and remained in my zone to give an authentic portrayal. On the last day, I apologized to my co-actors for being so distant."

'Chandra Dev' delves into the deity's struggle against demon king Bali and his rise as a guardian blessed by Brahmadev. The series vividly depicts his valor and celestial dynamics that shape Indian Vedic history. Sahdev's dedication enriches this portrayal by revealing Chandra Dev's lesser-known traits like aggression.
Angira Vats, Head of Content at Hari Om OTT, expressed excitement about Sahdev's role: "We are glad to have the exceptional actor Piyush Sahdev portray the iconic role of Chandra Dev. We selected this subject because it showcases a powerful story of love, devotion, and redemption, which makes Chandra Dev one of the most significant and revered figures in Indian Vedic history. This will be the first time the unbelievable story of Chandra Dev is showcased on Indian OTT or television."
With 'Chandra Dev,' Hari Om OTT embarks on a unique journey into spiritual and mythological storytelling. The platform aims to captivate audiences by presenting these tales authentically while broadening understanding of India's rich cultural heritage.
Sahdev's portrayal required physical transformation and mastering a dialect rooted in scriptures. His immersive approach added depth to his performance as he stayed in character throughout filming.
Alongside 'Chandra Dev,' viewers can look forward to series on other deities like 'Rahu,' 'Ketu,' 'Brihaspati Dev,' 'Shukra Dev,' 'Budh Dev,' 'Mangal Dev,' 'Surya Dev,' and 'Shani Dev.' This initiative seeks to educate audiences about India's cultural legacy through engaging narratives.
