Cannes 2024: Anasuya Sengupta Makes History As First Indian Actor To Win Best Actress Award At Cannes
Cannes 2024 Updates: The 77th Festival de Cannes is currently underway at the French Riviera, and it has been a momentous occasion for India. Anasuya Sengupta has made history by becoming the first Indian actor to win the 'Best Actress Award' at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
Anasuya Snegupta received the Un Certain Regard Prize for Best Actress for her outstanding performance in 'The Shameless'.

Written and directed by Bulgarian filmmaker Konstantin Bojanov, the film revolves around the story of a girl named Renuka (played by Anasuya), who escapes from a brothel in Delhi after killing a police officer.
Calcutta-born actress Anasuya Sengupta began her acting career as a supporting actor in Anjan Dutta's 2009 film 'Madly Bangalee'.
Anasuya holds a degree in English literature from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Initially, she aspired to pursue a career in journalism, but fate had other plans for her.
According to reports, Anasuya has also worked as a production designer. She reportedly contributed to the set design of Masaba Gupta's popular Netflix show, Masaba Masaba.
