Bollywood Celebrities Unite In Outrage Over Kolkata Doctor's Murder, Demand Justice
The tragic rape and murder of 31-year-old doctor Moumita Debnath in Kolkata has shocked the nation. Protests have erupted across India, particularly in Kolkata, following the discovery of her body on August 9 in a lecture hall at RG Kar Medical College.
Bollywood celebrities have expressed their outrage and demanded justice for Moumita on social media. Stars like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Alia Bhatt, Sara Ali Khan, and Vijay Varma have voiced their anger over the incident.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Varma, and Vir Das are among those who took to social media to condemn the horrific crime.
A while ago, Kareena Kapoor Khan posted on Instagram, recalling the horrors of the Nirbhaya case from over a decade ago. She drew parallels between the two incidents to highlight ongoing issues of women's safety.
1) Ayushmann Khurrana
Ayushmann Khurrana responded to the incident by sharing a poem titled 'Kaash Main Bhi Ladka Hoti' (I wish I were a boy) on Instagram. His post reflected his deep sorrow and frustration over gender-based violence.
2) Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt also expressed her shock and anger. She cited disturbing statistics from the NCRB 2022 study, noting that crimes against women have increased by 4% since 2022. She highlighted that over 20% of these crimes involve rape or assault.
3) Vir Das
A womans safety is the job of her govt, her administration, her institutions, her faculty, her education systems, her authorities, her courts, her country to enforce and systemically guarantee. It should have nothing to do with her hours, wardrobe or anything else. It’s OUR job.

Comedian-actor Vir Das took to Twitter (now X) to question the government about its role in ensuring women's safety. He emphasized that it is society's responsibility to protect women regardless of circumstances.
Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Varma, Preity Zinta, Richa Chadha, Triptii Dimri, and Amitabh Bachchan's granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda also demanded justice for Moumita Debnath through their social media platforms.
