Bohurupi Box Office Collection: Bengali Film Surpasses Rs 5 Crore, Outshining Jigra And Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video

Windows Production's recent film, 'Bohurupi', directed by Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy, is making waves at the box office. It has surpassed the collections of Bollywood films like 'Jigra' and 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video'. The film's success is evident as it continues to break records with its impressive earnings.

The movie, released just six days ago, has already amassed Rs 5 crore. This figure exceeds its production budget of Rs 4 crore. The audience's overwhelming response has led to an increase in screenings across the state, with approximately 42 additional shows added.

Bohurupi Achieves Major Box Office Success

The Bengali audience has shown a clear preference for 'Bohurupi', choosing it over Bollywood hits starring Alia Bhatt and Rajkummar Rao. This strong support from cinegoers has prompted theatre owners to expand the number of shows available, reflecting the film's growing popularity.

Director Shiboprosad Mukherjee shared his thoughts on this achievement: "Last year, Nandita Roy and I released our directorial venture, Raktabeej, for the first time during Durga Puja. We tasted immense success with the political thriller, which was a runaway blockbuster. That gave us the courage to bring Bohurupi this year, and the collections have been very encouraging, with theatres registering 3.40 lakh footfall in 7 days."

The film's budget was Rs 4 crore, but it quickly recouped its costs within a week due to audience demand. The positive reception has not only increased revenue but also expanded its reach in cinemas. This demonstrates how content-driven films can attract large audiences.

"It is our biggest budget venture and is likely to be the biggest hit in our career. We strongly feel that content is the king, and if you provide the audience with what they want, they will fill up the theatres," Mukherjee concluded.

With no new Bengali films releasing during Diwali and continued interest post-Durga Puja festivities, industry insiders predict that 'Bohurupi' could soon surpass Rs 12 crore in earnings. The film's ability to draw audiences even on weekdays highlights its potential for further success.
