Eid Showdown: Bade Miyan Chote Miyan And Maidaan Set For Day 3 Box Office Growth
The recent release of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan has sparked a significant box-office battle, marking the most notable showdown of 2024 to date. The films, featuring Bollywood heavyweights such as Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Ajay Devgn, were released on April 10, coinciding with the Eid festival. While Maidaan, a biographical drama centered on the life of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, received mostly positive reviews, the action-packed Bade Miyan Chote Miyan garnered a mixed response from critics.
The Eid holiday significantly boosted the opening day collections for both movies. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan took the lead with an impressive Rs 16.07 crore, while Maidaan managed to collect Rs 7.25 crore. However, both films experienced a decline in their collections on the following day, April 12. Maidaan's earnings dropped to approximately Rs 2.75 crore, totaling its net collections at Rs 9.85 crore. Meanwhile, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan saw its collections fall to around Rs 7 crore.

Despite the initial dip in their box office performance, both films are anticipated to see an increase in collections on their third day. Predictions suggest that Bade Miyan Chote Miyan could earn close to Rs 9 crore on Saturday (April 13), while Maidaan is expected to reach around Rs 4 crore in earnings. The official figures for these predictions will be confirmed by the film's producers on April 14.
Maidaan pays tribute to Syed Abdul Rahim's contribution to Indian football, portraying his role in shaping the sport's future in the country. On the other side, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan presents an action-filled narrative where Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff play soldiers dedicated to protecting their nation from a severe threat.
This box-office clash between two diverse genres highlights the varied tastes of Bollywood audiences and underscores the industry's dynamic nature. As these films continue their theatrical run, their performance could offer insights into audience preferences and trends in Indian cinema for 2024.
