Bad Newz Review: Stellar Acts By Vicky, Triptii, And Ammy Shine Through

Bad Newz Review: After multiple delays, Dharma Productions' Bad Newz, featuring Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk, has finally premiered. The trailer captured everyone's interest, and the song Tauba Tauba heightened the anticipation. But does the film live up to the hype? Discover our thoughts below...

The plot centres around Akhil (Vicky Kaushal), a typical Delhi guy reminiscent of Rocky Randhawa, who falls for Saloni (Triptii Dimri), a chef aspiring for a Meraki star. They marry but soon divorce when things go awry. Saloni then works at a Mussoorie hotel where she meets Gurbir (Ammy Virk). One night leads to her having s*x with both men, and she later discovers she's pregnant. The twist is that both are fathers due to heteropaternal superfecundation. The story unfolds as they navigate this complex situation.

Bad Newz: Stellar Performances Reviewed

The standout element in Bad Newz is undoubtedly the performances by the lead actors. Vicky Kaushal shines as Akhil, embodying the Rocky Randhawa type with excellent comic timing. Ammy Virk also delivers a strong performance, often making viewers laugh with his straight-faced humour. Triptii Dimri surprises with a substantial role and delivers an impressive performance that captivates the audience.

Neha Dhupia appears in an extended cameo and performs well, though her character could have been more developed. Sheeba Chaddha also does well in her role. Additionally, Ananya Panday and Neha Sharma make brief appearances, leaving a lasting impression with their performances.

The film excels in its music department. The songs are highly enjoyable, with Tauba Tauba already being a hit. However, the background score could have been improved in some scenes.

The movie starts off decently with some humorous moments in the first half. However, it drags in the second half before picking up again during an emotional climax. While the concept is fresh, it eventually turns into a typical comedy about two men vying for one woman's affection.

Bad Newz Review Final Verdict

Overall, Bad Newz introduces an interesting concept but falls short due to its direction. Despite this, the lead actors' performances manage to save the film from being lacklustre.

The story had potential for more humour but fails to deliver consistently throughout its runtime. The first half contains laugh-out-loud moments but loses steam in the latter part of the film.

This isn't a sequel or part of any franchise; however, given Karan Johar's involvement and its pregnancy theme, comparisons to Good Newz are inevitable.
