Baby John Review: Varun Dhawan Delivers An Emotional Performance In This Hindi Remake Of Theri

Baby John Review: Atlee gained nationwide fame with Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan. However, he is already a celebrated director in Tamil cinema, known for hits like Theri, Mersal, and Bigil, all starring Thalapathy Vijay. His film Theri has now been remade into Hindi as Baby John, featuring Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Directed by Kalees, let's explore if this movie is worth your attention.

John D'Silva (Varun Dhawan) lives peacefully with his daughter Khushi (Zara Zyanna) in Kerala, running a bakery. Their serene life changes when Khushi's teacher Tara (Wamiqa Gabbi) enters the scene. An incident leads them to a police station where John's past comes to light. Nana (Jackie Shroff) then pursues John and Khushi. To uncover John's history and Nana's motives, watching the film is essential.

Baby John: An Emotional Hindi Remake of Theri

Having seen Theri, we noticed that Baby John shares its core story and screenplay. The Hindi dubbed version of Theri closely resembles Baby John's dialogues and scenes. However, some elements have been altered significantly. The antagonist's role is reimagined differently here. Tara's character and Head Constable Ram Sevak (Rajpal Yadav) also receive intriguing twists absent in Theri.

The emotional depth is a strong point for Baby John. While the father-daughter bond is charming, other emotional moments before the interval stand out too. Kalees deserves credit for enhancing this aspect compared to Theri.

Varun Dhawan shines as Baby John with his endearing chemistry with Zara Zyanna bringing smiles. His performance in emotional scenes is commendable too. Keerthy Suresh debuts in Bollywood with this film; she looks stunning but deserved a stronger debut role.

Wamiqa Gabbi excels as Tara and handles action sequences effortlessly. Jackie Shroff portrays the antagonist convincingly while Rajpal Yadav delivers excellent comic timing throughout the film. A surprise twist awaits viewers during the climax involving Sheeba Chaddha as Satya's mother who adds humour effectively.

Zara Zyanna impresses with her adorable portrayal of Khushi, leaving a lasting impression on audiences.

Baby John Review - Music

The film's music stands out with catchy songs complemented by an engaging background score. "Nain Matakka" has already become popular and adds excitement when viewed on big screens.

Baby John Review - Final Verdict

If you've seen Theri before, Baby John may not offer much novelty except for improved emotional storytelling. For those unfamiliar with the original movie though it could be an enjoyable one-time watch this weekend.
