Baby John Box Office Collection Day 1: Varun Dhawan’s Film Achieves Record Opening Despite Judwaa 2 Comparison
Varun Dhawan's latest film, Baby John, has captivated his fans, especially with its Christmas release. Directed by Kalees, this action thriller is a remake of Thalapathy Vijay's 2016 film Theri. The movie stars Varun alongside Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabi, and Jackie Shroff. Keerthy makes her Bollywood debut in this film, while Jackie plays the main antagonist.
The film showcases Varun as a police officer for the second time on screen. Jackie's role has also drawn significant attention. From its trailer to its music, Baby John has generated considerable excitement. Released on Christmas Day, it was well-positioned to attract audiences eager for an action-packed experience during the festive season.

On its first day at the box office, Baby John saw a promising start amid the festive atmosphere. According to Sacnilk's report, the film earned Rs 12.50 crores on its opening day (first Wednesday).
Despite its strong start, Baby John did not surpass Varun's 2017 film Judwaa 2, which collected Rs 16.10 crores on its first day. However, Baby John achieved a milestone for Varun by becoming his highest-grossing opener since the pandemic began.
In an interview with India Today, Varun discussed how Theri inspired Baby John. He said, "When Atlee came with this film, there was a reason behind it... we had to change a lot of the geography of the film... it's more of an adaptation." He emphasized that viewers expecting a direct remake might be disappointed as it is an adaptation.
