Aseem Hattangadi Reveals What Drew Him To His 'Bombed' Character

Aseem Hattangadi's journey in theatre and cinema is deeply rooted in his family's artistic background. His parents, Rohini and Jayadev Hattangadi, were active in both cinema and theatre. Aseem began his theatre career in 2009 with Naseeruddin Shah. He has made a mark in OTT shows like 'Scoop' and 'Decoupled,' and films such as 'Ugly,' 'Rashmi Rocket,' and 'Govinda Naam Mera.'

Recalling his early experiences, Aseem says, "My father gave me my first role in Badal Sircar's 'Evam Indrajit.' After he passed away, I worked with Naseeruddin Shah and then many veterans like Makrand Deshpande, Manav Kaul, and Akarsh."

Aseem plays Anti-Terrorism Squad Inspector Sudarshan Damle in the Zee Theatre teleplay 'Bombed.' His character disrupts the life of Zameer, a young man living in Bandra who spends his time gaming, playing cards with his landlady, and discussing popular culture with his neighbour.

About his role, Aseem says, "When I read the story, I found my character very interesting. He's not purely good or bad; he's somewhere in between. That was most appealing to me."

Aseem has a long-standing collaboration with director Akarsh and Akvarious Productions. He shares, "When I was offered 'Bombed,' I said 'yes' even before listening to the story. Akarsh is not just my director but also my brother and a great friend."

He has also worked with Akarsh in Zee Theatre's teleplay 'Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti' and the film 'Rashmi Rocket.' Aseem enjoys working in ensemble casts and says, "Each actor brings their unique interpretation, creating a beautiful collage of different personalities."
