Arjun Kapoor Opens Up About His Hashimoto Disease Diagnosis And Mental Health Struggles

Arjun Kapoor, known for his role as Danger Lanka in 'Singham Again', has been enjoying the film's success. However, he recently shared personal health struggles, revealing he suffers from mild depression and Hashimoto disease. This revelation has led many to search for information about Hashimoto disease online.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Arjun Kapoor discussed his battle with mental and physical health issues. The 39-year-old actor opened up about dealing with mild depression and an autoimmune disorder called Hashimoto disease.

Arjun Kapoor Discusses Hashimoto Disease Diagnosis

Hashimoto disease is an autoimmune disorder that can lead to hypothyroidism or an underactive thyroid. The thyroid gland, located in the neck, plays a crucial role in regulating metabolism. In Hashimoto disease, the immune system attacks this gland.

This condition is more likely if you have other autoimmune disorders like celiac disease, type 2 diabetes, or rheumatoid arthritis. Symptoms of Hashimoto disease include fatigue, weight gain, sensitivity to cold, constipation, and mood changes.

"You will have moments of self-doubt in any profession. You fight through it. You look for validation. I am a fat kid at heart. I was diagnosed with mild depression, which was circumstantial. When you have an autoimmune disorder - I have something called Hashimoto's - it's an extension of having a thyroid issue, but your antibodies fight against you. So, it's almost like I can take a flight and gain weight because the body goes into stress," the actor stated.

Arjun further explained his condition by saying, "I haven't always opened up about it, but I also have Hashimoto's disease, which is an extension of thyroid. It's almost like I can take a flight and gain weight because the body goes in distress".

The National Institute of Health (NIH) describes Hashimoto as an autoimmune disorder affecting the thyroid gland. This small butterfly-shaped gland is essential for controlling metabolism.

Arjun Kapoor's candidness about his health issues sheds light on the challenges faced by those living with autoimmune disorders like Hashimoto disease. His openness may encourage others to seek help and raise awareness about these conditions.
