AR Rahman And Saira Banu Separate After Nearly Three Decades Of Marriage
AR Rahman and Saira Banu have decided to end their marriage after 29 years. On Tuesday, November 19, a statement was released by Saira Banu's team confirming their separation. This announcement marks the end of a long-standing relationship between the renowned music composer and his wife.
Saira Banu described the decision as 'difficult', attributing it to 'tension' and 'difficulties' that created an unbridgeable gap between them. She expressed that her choice was made out of 'pain and agony'.

"After many years of marriage, Mrs Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband Mr. AR Rahman. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time. Mrs Saira emphasised that she has taken this decision out of pain and agony. Mrs Saira requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time, as she navigates this difficult chapter in her life," the statement read as quoted as saying by India Today.
The couple's separation is attributed to emotional challenges that have strained their bond over time. Despite their affection for each other, these issues have led to a divide they cannot currently overcome. The statement highlights Saira Banu's request for privacy as she deals with this personal matter.
As they move forward separately, both AR Rahman and Saira Banu seek understanding from the public. Their focus remains on handling this transition with dignity while respecting each other's space during this period.
