Antaraa Bhattacharya Makes Indie Debut As Songwriter With 'Dhaage'

Bollywood's versatile talent, Antaraa Bhataacharya, known for her vocal prowess in movies like 'Bramhastra' and 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani', has expanded her musical horizons. She's not just a singer now but has ventured into songwriting and composing, marking her debut with the indie single 'Dhaage'. This track has not only caught the attention of music lovers but has also seen a rapid increase in streams, crossing the 10,000 mark on Spotify in just three days of its release. Additionally, it's been featured on prominent playlists such as Spotify's 'New Music Hindi' and Wynk Music's 'Latest Indie'.

For this project, Antaraa collaborated with Nikhil Pawar, who took on the arrangement, mixing, and mastering. Speaking about her unexpected journey into composition, Antaraa shared, "I never thought that I would compose someday. Suddenly, one morning I was doing my riyaz and a tune popped into my mind. It happened naturally." She added that the creation of 'Dhaage' was a fluid process, with the lyrics and melody coming to her organically.

'Dhaage' stands out as an upbeat track, designed to capture the listener's attention with its catchy hook and rhythmic baseline. Antaraa explained, "I made the track a fast-paced number... The highlight of the song is the sitar interlude." Both Antaraa and Nikhil embarked on their independent music careers during the Covid-19 pandemic and have since released over 12 tracks, amassing more than 10,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

Reflecting on their partnership, Antaraa remarked, "Nikhil and I have been music mates since 2019... For 'Dhaage', I have received maximum support from Nikhil. The song is doing well." Her musical journey was nurtured in Kolkata, under the guidance of renowned mentors including Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty. Moreover, her stint with Bollywood composer Pritam notably contributed to her professional growth, providing her with a platform to be part of significant movie soundtracks.

Antaraa is poised to release more original compositions in varied genres, alongside collaborations with other composers. Expressing gratitude towards her parents for their unwavering support, she credits them for her achievements. With 'Dhaage' making waves and more music on the horizon, Antaraa Bhataacharya is a name to watch in the Indian indie music scene.
