What's Amitabh Bachchan's Role In Kalki 2898 AD: Ace filmmaker Nag Ashwin is coming up with one of the biggest releases of the year, and the audience is eagerly anticipating it. We are talking about Kalki 2898 AD, a multi-starrer project featuring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani in leading roles. Set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD, Kalki 2898 AD is the first motion picture instalment of the planned Kalki Cinematic Universe.

Interestingly, the sci-fi action film will feature Prabhas in the lead role of Bhairava, while Deepika will be seen as his love interest Padma. Not just the stellar cast, but the first look posters of the movie have also been grabbing a lot of attention. Fans are now looking forward to the release of Kalki 2898 AD, which will be out on June 10. Ahead of the trailer release, there have been many speculations about megastar Amitabh Bachchan's role in Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD.

Amitabh Bachchan, who has collaborated with Prabhas for the first time and third time with Deepika after Piku and Aarakshan, is playing a key role of Ashwatthama in Kalki 2898 AD. To note, Ashwatthama means 'one with the sound of a horse'. He was the son of Guru Dronacharya and Kripi and was known for his unwavering loyalty and controversial actions.

Interestingly, Ashwatthama had a divine gem on his forehead since birth that made him immortal and invincible along with giving him power over all living beings. It also protected him from hunger, fatigue, diseases and even weapons. This isn't all. Ashwatthama also had immense skills in weaponry, particularly the Narayanastra and the Brahmastra and was a formidable warrior.

Meanwhile, as Kalki 2898 AD will reportedly chronicle some events of the Mahabharata in the year 3102 BC, Nag Ashwin in his interaction with Deadline stated that the movie "does not involve any characters actively worshipped by large numbers of Hindus". He further asserted, "We can take it as extremely religious or we can take it as the story of somebody who was born with a lot of power, didn't know what to do with it, and found his mentor in the process".
