- Your film Band of Maharajas is generating significant buzz with its entry in the Oscar race. How joyous you are?

Alankrita: I am absolutely thrilled about the buzz surrounding Band of Maharajas. It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the project. The recognition at such a prestigious level is incredibly fulfilling.

- Can you share what role you play in the film and what drew you to this project?

Alankrita: In Band of Maharajas, I play the girl next door and her name is Simran, she's from a village in Punjab and is the love interest of all the three boys since their childhood. But things do change as the film continues and they all find their calling and she finds her love. A funny chirpy and culturally driven Simran entertains you too. I was drawn to this project because of its unique storytelling and the chance to portray a character that is so cute and an important part of this musical.

- How was it working with director Girish Malik? Can you tell us about your collaboration with him and how his direction influenced your performance?

Alankrita: Collaborating with Girish Malik has been an inspiring experience. His vision and passion for storytelling are infectious. He has a unique way of bringing out the best in his actors, allowing us to explore our characters fully, which greatly influenced my performance. He is a kind man.

The film's ability to highlight cultural diversity while addressing universal struggles makes it a strong contender in the Oscar race. Music binds us all. That's why the band signifies breaking barriers and uniting boundaries with each beat, tune and rhythm.

- What do you think an Oscar nod or win would mean for you personally and for the film's message?

Alankrita: An Oscar nod or win would be monumental for us and personally it's in contention so the list also is a dream come true , as it represents validation for the hard work put into the film. More importantly, it would spotlight the film's message of unity and resilience, amplifying its reach and impact.

A Journey from Pageants to Acting

- If you could pick any role or genre in the future, what would it be, and why?

Alankrita: If I could pick a role, I would love to explore a complex character in a psychological thriller. The intricacies of human emotions in such a genre fascinate me, and I believe it would be a thrilling challenge or Sanjay Leela Bansali's leading lady.
