Akshay Kumar Leads Tree Plantation Drive In Mumbai To Foster Urban Sustainability

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, alongside Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, recently spearheaded a tree plantation event in Mumbai. They planted 390 trees to boost the city's green cover. This initiative, organized by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) with The Tree Authority, Fit Mumbai, and Make Earth Green Again (MEGA) Foundation, saw 300 Bahawa trees planted along the Western Express Highway near Kherwadi. This effort is a tribute by Akshay Kumar to his late parents, Hari Om Bhatia and Aruna Bhatia, emphasizing the need for collective action against climate change and promoting greener urban spaces.

The selection of Bahawa trees for this initiative is strategic due to their resilience and ability to thrive in urban settings. This ensures higher survival rates and contributes to the city's biodiversity. Such noble causes have a tangible impact on the environment and encourage citizens to engage in physical activities that align with the Fit Mumbai Movement led by Shri Vishvas Mote from BMC.

Akshay Kumar's Green Mission in Mumbai

This tree plantation drive is part of a global trend of involving public figures in environmental causes. After Cyclone Tauktae, the Adopt a Fallen Tree Pit and Be a Guardian of Nature campaign was implemented, with celebrities like Hema Malini, Anil Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonakshi Sinha, Anupam Kher, Bappi Lahiri, Ajay Devgn with son Yug Devgn, Sonu Nigam, Sangram Singh, Ranvir Shorey and son Haroon Shorey, Rohit Shetty, and Ayesha Jhulka participating in similar BMC-MEGA initiatives.

In conclusion, such collaborative efforts between public figures and organizations play a crucial role in promoting environmental sustainability and fostering greener cities. By coming together for these causes, we can honor the legacy of those who have contributed to our well-being while making our city greener.
