Akshay Kumar Eyes Independence Day Hit With 'Khel Khel Mein': A Look At His Track Record
Khel Khel Mein: Bollywood superstars often follow a pattern for their film releases. Aamir Khan typically releases his movies during Christmas, Salman Khan prefers Eid, and Akshay Kumar has made a habit of releasing his films around Independence Day.
Akshay's films like Brothers (2015), Rustom (2016), Toilet Ek Prem Katha (2017), Gold (2018), Mission Mangal (2019), Raksha Bandhan (2022), and Oh My God 2 (2023) have mostly been released during this period. Out of these seven films, five were successful, while two did not perform well at the box office.

Recently, Akshay has faced challenges at the box office. Although OMG 2, where he had a cameo, was a hit, his lead roles haven't fared as well. His last film Sarfira received positive reviews but failed commercially.
Akshay is set to return with Khel Khel Mein. The first look poster was unveiled today and promises a fun experience. The film also features Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Ammry Virk, Fardeen Khan, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal.
The movie is a comedy-drama about friends whose secrets come out one night. It's a remake of the award-winning Italian film Perfect Strangers. The first look suggests it will be a refreshing addition to Bollywood.
Khel Khel Mein will clash with Stree 2 and Vedaa at the box office. The trailer for Stree 2 has already received an excellent response. Besides Stree 2, it's another John vs Akshay battle on Independence Day weekend. Their films have clashed multiple times before during this period.
Independence Day weekend has generally been lucky for Akshay; five out of seven films released then have done well. It will be interesting to see how Khel Khel Mein performs at the box office this time around.
