BMCM Surpasses Shaitaan To Become Second Highest Opener Of 2024

Ali Abbas Zafar's latest directorial venture, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, featuring a stellar cast including Akshay Kumar, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tiger Shroff, Manushi Chhillar, and Alaya F, has made a significant impact at the box office. The film, touted as one of the year's biggest action entertainers, opened to decent audience reviews. The chemistry between Tiger and Akshay, alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran's compelling performance as the lead antagonist, has particularly garnered attention.

On its opening day, the film collected Rs 15.65 crores, marking a strong start. Notably, it surpassed the opening day collection of Ajay Devgn's Maidaan, also an Eid release, setting new records for the box office. Despite high expectations to outperform Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, which opened at Rs 22.5 crores, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan fell short.

BMCM Sets New Box Office Record

However, the film succeeded in outdoing Ajay Devgn's Shaitaan, with its opening day earnings positioning it as the second highest opener of 2024 after Fighter. This achievement marks Akshay Kumar's first collaboration with Tiger Shroff as a notable success.

The film's opening day success also signifies notable achievements for its leading actors. For Akshay Kumar, it stands as the second highest opener post-COVID after Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi. For Tiger Shroff, it ranks as his third highest opener following War and Baaghi 2, and his highest since the pandemic began.

The release of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan coincided with that of Maidaan, leading to a box office clash. Ajay Devgn commented on the situation, stating he does not view it as a clash but acknowledges the challenges of releasing two major films simultaneously due to certain obligations. The competition between these films continues to be a point of interest for industry watchers and fans alike.

The performance of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan at the box office reflects not only the star power of its cast but also the audience's appetite for action-packed entertainers. As the film progresses through its theatrical run, it remains to be seen how it will sustain its momentum against its competitors and whether it can maintain its lead over Maidaan.
