Maidaan's Opening Day Box Office Trails Behind Salman Khan's Last Eid Film
The Bollywood box office witnessed a subdued start this Eid 2024, with two major releases, "Maidaan" and "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" (BMCM), failing to meet the high expectations typically set for festive releases. Despite the star power behind these films, their opening day collections did not match the anticipated blockbuster earnings.
On the auspicious occasion of Eid, a day when box office numbers usually soar, "Maidaan" and its contemporary "BMCM" saw underwhelming figures. "BMCM" managed to collect ₹15.50 crore, whereas "Maidaan" garnered a modest ₹7.70 crore, which includes earnings from paid previews. The combined earnings of these two anticipated films fell short of the ₹25 crore mark, a figure that was significantly lower than the industry's expectations for a single film on such a notable day.

A journalist expressed disappointment over the performance of both films on social media, highlighting the unexpected low turnout at the box office. "Today, on such a big festival you expect at least ₹40Cr from one film but here the combined business of 2 biggies is LESS than ₹25Cr. Sad," they remarked.
The lackluster performance of "Maidaan" and "BMCM" on their opening day has been a topic of discussion among industry analysts and fans alike. With both films starring some of Bollywood's biggest names and releasing on a significant holiday like Eid, expectations were naturally sky-high. However, the reality of their day one box office collections paints a different picture, setting an uncertain tone for their future earnings.
