Maidaan Sees Predicted Drop In Box Office Collections On Day 5

Ajay Devgn's latest cinematic venture, "Maidaan," where he stars as a football coach, has been generating significant buzz in the Bollywood industry. Following his acclaimed performance in Vikas Bahl's "Shaitaan," Devgn's portrayal of Syed Abdul Rahim in "Maidaan" has been met with positive reviews. The film, which also features Priyamani and Gajraj Rao, delves into the life of Rahim, a legendary football coach who played a pivotal role in elevating Indian football, leading the team to win two gold medals from 1952 to 1962.

The anticipation surrounding "Maidaan" was high, with expectations of a strong box office performance. However, the film opened with a collection of Rs 7.10 crore, including paid previews, and experienced a slight dip on its second day. Despite this, the weekend brought some relief with the total collection reaching Rs 21.85 crores by the end of Sunday.

Maidaan Day 5: Box Office Dip

Current trends suggest a decrease in "Maidaan's" box office collections, with predictions estimating earnings between Rs 2-4 crores on its fifth day. This comes after a weekend where the film managed to garner Rs 5.75 crores on Saturday and Rs 6.25 crores on Sunday. The film's performance in the coming days remains to be seen, especially considering its competition with "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff.

Ajay Devgn commented on the simultaneous release of "Maidaan" and "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," stating he does not view it as a clash but acknowledges the challenges of releasing two major films concurrently due to certain obligations.

"Maidaan" represents a significant effort to pay tribute to a golden era of Indian football through the cinematic lens. Despite its struggle to dominate the box office initially, the film has received accolades for its storytelling and performances. As it continues its theatrical run, it will be interesting to observe how "Maidaan" fares against its box office competition and whether it can replicate the success of Devgn's previous work.
