Ajay Devgn And Akshay Kumar: Decades Of Box Office Rivalry Unveiled

Bollywood enthusiasts are on the edge of their seats as the industry braces for a titanic box-office showdown between Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar. The much-talked-about clash between Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is scheduled for tomorrow, marking another chapter in the history of their cinematic rivalries. This face-off is not the first of its kind, as both actors have previously competed in the box office arena.

The latest confrontation sees Ajay Devgn's eagerly awaited biographical sports drama Maidaan going head-to-head with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's action-packed Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Initial reports suggest a lead for Akshay's film in terms of advance bookings. Maidaan has sold over 16,304 tickets, amassing an estimated Rs 37.8 lakhs, whereas Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has seen over 43k tickets sold, earning around Rs 1.1 crores for its opening day.

Devgn vs Kumar Box Office Rivalry

Last year's clash involved Thank God, featuring Ajay Devgn alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh, and Akshay Kumar's Ram Setu with Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha. Despite both films not performing as expected, Ram Setu managed to outperform with a global gross of Rs 93 cr compared to Thank God's Rs 48.92 cr.

Akshay Kumar expressed his appreciation for Ajay Devgn on social media, highlighting their long-standing professional relationship and wishing him strength and love on his birthday.

In 2010, the comedy showdown between Ajay's Golmaal 3 and Akshay's Action Replayy saw the former emerge victorious with a collection of Rs 106.34 cr in India, significantly outperforming the latter's Rs 48 cr.

The same year also witnessed the release of Tees Maar Khan by Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif and Ajay-Kajol's Toonpur Ka Superhero. Despite high expectations, Ajay's film did not fare well, while Akshay's movie achieved semi-hit status.

In 2009, the battle was between Akshay's underwater adventure Blue and Ajay's comedy All The Best. The latter took the lead with a domestic box office collection of around Rs 61 crores against Blue's Rs 52 crore.

The year 2004 saw both actors' films not performing well; however, Akshay's Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo managed to collect more with Rs 19.16 cr compared to Ajay's Raincoat, which collected approximately Rs 4.88 crores.

In their 2000 face-off, Akshay Kumar's family entertainer Dhadkan outperformed Ajay Devgn's Deewane, collecting Rs 14.02 cr (nett). However, later that year, both actors' films did not do well at the box office, yet Ajay's film performed slightly better.

Their rivalry dates back to 1998 when Ajay Devgn and Kajol's romantic flick Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha triumphed over Akshay Kumar's action film Angaaray, setting an early tone for their box office battles.

This ongoing rivalry between two of Bollywood’s leading men continues to captivate audiences and adds an exciting dimension to the cinematic landscape. As these stalwarts prepare for their latest clash, fans eagerly await to see which film will capture the audience’s imagination this time around.
