Zverev Secures Victory Over Goffin, Advances To French Open Third Round
Alexander Zverev advanced to the third round of the French Open with a straight-sets victory over David Goffin on Thursday. The fourth seed followed up his win over 14-time Roland Garros champion Rafael Nadal by defeating Goffin 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, 6-2 after two hours and 22 minutes on the court.
Zverev faced a tough challenge in the opening set but managed to edge it out. His intensity and power carried him through the rest of the match. Despite making five unforced errors in the second set, the German remained in control and did not face a single break point in the third set to secure his advancement.

He will play either Tallon Griekspoor or Luciano Darderi in the next round as he continues to chase his first major title.
Zverev has now won eight consecutive matches on clay for the first time since 2019, when he achieved a similar streak between Geneva and Roland Garros. This victory also marks his 90th win in Grand Slam events, placing him behind only Boris Becker and Tommy Haas among German players in men's singles.
Despite some challenges, Zverev's performance remains strong, showcasing his potential to go further in the tournament. His ability to maintain control and composure under pressure has been a significant factor in his recent successes.
As Zverev prepares for his next match, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if he can continue his impressive run on clay and potentially secure his first major title.
