Swiatek Triumphs Over Gauff, Eyes Third Italian Open Title
Iga Swiatek has advanced to the Italian Open final for the third time after defeating Coco Gauff 6-4, 6-3 on Thursday. The match was closely contested in the first 50 minutes, with both players tied at 4-4. However, Gauff's consecutive double faults provided Swiatek with an opening, which she capitalised on.
The world number one broke Gauff's serve four times, including a crucial break in the fifth game of the second set. This shifted the momentum in Swiatek's favour after one hour and 48 minutes on the court. Swiatek has now reached back-to-back WTA 1000 finals, having won the Madrid Open earlier this month.

Swiatek could face Aryna Sabalenka for the title once more if the Belarusian overcomes Danielle Collins in the other semi-final. The final is scheduled for Saturday.

Swiatek has now won 11 consecutive matches and registered her 10th victory over Gauff in 11 meetings. She has won all four matches against the American on clay. Since the format's introduction in 2009, Swiatek holds the highest percentage of finals reached from WTA-1000 main draws entered, with a rate of 40 per cent (12/30).
Serena Williams follows with a percentage of 36.7 per cent (18/49). Since the WTA rankings were first published in 1975, Swiatek has become only the third player to reach multiple Italian Open finals as the WTA's number one, joining Serena Williams (three) and Monica Seles (two).
Chasing a Third Title
Swiatek will be aiming for her third Italian Open title on Saturday. Her consistent performance on clay courts continues to solidify her status as a dominant force in women's tennis.
