Jannik Sinner Triumphs Over Richard Gasquet To Reach French Open Third Round
Jannik Sinner advanced to the French Open third round with a straightforward victory over home favourite Richard Gasquet on Wednesday. The world number two, who previously defeated Christopher Eubanks in his first Roland-Garros match, displayed similar dominance against the French veteran on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
Having secured the Australian Open title in January, Sinner is eyeing a second major title after his convincing 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 win in Paris. Buoyed by his straight-sets win against Eubanks on Monday, Sinner broke Gasquet's serve at 3-3 in the first set, setting the tone for the match.

Gasquet, a 16-time ATP Tour champion, struggled to respond after that initial setback, managing to hold his serve just twice in a one-sided second set. Sinner continued to control the game from deep on the court, dismantling Gasquet's defence to secure a routine win in just two hours and 17 minutes.
Sinner in full control #RolandGarros
Fresh from his triumph in Australia, Sinner boasts an impressive 9-0 record in grand slam competitions this year. The 22-year-old has extended his record to 12-1 against players ranked outside the top 10 at Roland-Garros. Additionally, he has achieved 26 wins and just one loss against French players since August 2020.
Sinner's performance at Roland-Garros continues to solidify his status as a formidable contender in major tournaments. His ability to maintain control and dictate play from deep on the court has been a key factor in his recent successes.
As Sinner progresses further into the tournament, his consistent form and strategic gameplay will be crucial. With another major title within reach, all eyes will be on the young Italian as he aims to add another accolade to his growing list of achievements.
