Nadal Could Clash With Djokovic In Second Round Of Paris Olympic Games

Rafael Nadal might face Novak Djokovic in a significant second-round match at the Paris Olympic Games. The draws for the tennis tournaments were announced on Thursday. Nadal, who is expected to retire later this year, will play both singles and doubles at Roland-Garros, where he has won 14 French Open titles.

Nadal will team up with Carlos Alcaraz, the current French Open and Wimbledon champion, for the doubles competition. They will face Argentina's fourth-seeded pair Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni in a challenging first-round match. Nadal is one of only two players to have won Olympic gold in both singles and doubles since tennis returned to the Games in 1988.

Nadal-Djokovic Paris Olympics Showdown

In the singles tournament, Nadal will start against Hungary's Marton Fucsovics. If he wins, he could meet Djokovic in the second round. Djokovic faces Australian Matthew Ebden in his opening match. Other notable players on their side of the draw include third seed Alexander Zverev, who plays Jaume Munar first, and seventh seed Taylor Fritz, who opens against Alexander Bublik.

On the opposite side of the bracket, Alcaraz begins his campaign against Hady Habib. Britain's Cameron Norrie could be his second-round opponent. Fourth seed Daniil Medvedev faces Rinky Hijikata in his first match, while fifth seed Alex de Minaur is a potential quarter-final opponent for Alcaraz.

Iga Swiatek is the favourite in the women's draw, having won four French Open titles on Paris clay. She will face Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu in her opening match. On her side of the draw, Naomi Osaka will clash with 2016 silver medallist Angelique Kerber in a high-profile first-round match. Kerber announced her retirement after these Games.

Elena Rybakina and Danielle Collins are also on Swiatek's side of the draw. On the opposite side, Coco Gauff starts against Ajla Tomljanovic.

Murray's Focus on Doubles

Britain's Andy Murray withdrew from the singles event to focus on doubles with Dan Evans. They will face Japan's Kei Nishikori and Taro Daniel first. If they advance, home favourites Arthur Fils and Ugo Humbert could be their next opponents.

Murray and Evans cannot meet Nadal and Alcaraz until the final if both pairs progress that far. Potential quarter-final opponents for Murray and Evans include Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul, who must first overcome Canada's Milos Raonic and Felix Auger Aliassime.

The excitement builds as fans eagerly await these thrilling matches at Roland-Garros during what promises to be an unforgettable Olympic Games.
