Nadal Aims To Elevate Game To Match Alcaraz's Level At Paris Olympics

Rafael Nadal is confident that Carlos Alcaraz will perform exceptionally well at the Olympics, as they prepare to team up for doubles. Both players will represent Spain in Paris, also competing in the singles event. Nadal reached his first final since his 2022 French Open victory at the Swedish Open on Sunday but lost to Nuno Borges in straight sets.

Nadal has previously secured two Olympic gold medals: one in singles at the 2008 Beijing Games and another in doubles at Rio 2016. Meanwhile, Alcaraz has had a stellar year, winning consecutive Grand Slams—first at Roland Garros in June and then defeating Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon earlier this month.

The 21-year-old Alcaraz is set to compete in the Olympics for the first time, ahead of the hard-court season. Nadal acknowledged his dissatisfaction with his performance in Bastad's final and expressed his determination to improve to match Alcaraz's level.

"I'm really looking forward to being part of the Olympic team and representing Spain," said Nadal. "This is the most important event in sport. I hope I can find the energy I need and do some good training." He emphasised the importance of analysing his recent performance and working hard to play well in both singles and doubles.

Nadal believes that Alcaraz will be in top form due to his current confidence. "I am convinced that Carlos will be at a great level because he is coming in with confidence. We will train together this week," he added.
