Swiatek Thanks Roland Garros Fans For Belief In Her Consecutive Victory
Iga Swiatek expressed her gratitude to the fans at the French Open for their support, which she credited with giving her the belief needed to win the tournament after nearly being eliminated in the second round. The world number one secured her fourth title at Roland Garros with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory over Jasmine Paolini on Saturday.
Swiatek's journey to the title was not without its challenges. She faced a potential early exit against Naomi Osaka but managed an impressive comeback. Swiatek saved a match point against the former world number one, coming back from 5-2 down to win the deciding set 7-5. This victory set her on the path to securing the trophy.

With this win, Swiatek became the second player in the Open Era to win all of her first five Women's Singles Grand Slam finals, following Monica Seles. From the round of 16 onwards, Swiatek dropped just 11 games combined on her way to clinching the title. Following her win, she acknowledged the crowd in Paris for boosting her confidence after her challenging match against Osaka.
"I love this place, I wait every year to come back here," Swiatek said after winning her title. "I was almost out in the second round so thank you for still cheering for me. I needed to believe that this was possible. It's been an emotional tournament. Thank you for supporting me."
Swiatek also extended her gratitude to her team and family, stating that their support was crucial to her success. "I want to thank my team, my family, without them I wouldn't be here. I want to thank everyone who made this tournament possible," she added.
Jasmine Paolini played in her maiden Grand Slam final and also reached the doubles final on Sunday with partner Sara Errani. Swiatek praised Paolini for her performance and wished her well in future competitions.
"Congrats for an amazing tournament," Swiatek said. "I'm really impressed with how you've been playing these last two weeks. I hope we'll have many more matches in final rounds."
The French Open concluded with Swiatek solidifying her position as one of the top players in women's tennis, while Paolini's performance marked a significant milestone in her career.
