Coco Gauff Continues Impressive Run To Reach Fourth Round At Roland-Garros
Coco Gauff secured her spot in the French Open fourth round by defeating Dayana Yastremska in straight sets at Roland-Garros. The third seed has yet to drop a set in her first three matches, overcoming her Ukrainian opponent 6-2, 6-4 in 94 minutes on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
Gauff's return game was pivotal against the 30th seed, who had reached the Australian Open semi-finals as a qualifier in January. The 2022 finalist won five of Yastremska's nine service games, bringing her total to 15 out of 25 for the tournament. This included two breaks during a dominant opening set.

In the second set, Gauff broke Yastremska's serve three more times, putting her on the verge of victory at 5-2. Although she failed to convert match point as Yastremska broke back, Gauff saved break points on her next service game to eventually hold and advance.
Gauff will next face Elisabetta Cocciaretto, who is making her first fourth-round appearance at a major after defeating 17th seed Liudmila Samsonova 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. Cocciaretto, at 23 years old, is the youngest Italian to reach the fourth round at Roland-Garros since Francesca Schiavone in 2001.
Gauff has become only the second American in the Open Era to reach four consecutive Women's Singles R16s at Roland-Garros before turning 21, joining Jennifer Capriati (1990-93). This victory also marked her 18th match win at Roland-Garros. Since 2000, only Iga Swiatek (21) and Ana Ivanovic (19) have recorded more wins at this stage before turning 21.
As Gauff continues her impressive run, all eyes will be on her upcoming match against Cocciaretto. Both players have shown remarkable form and will be eager to advance further in the tournament.
