Emma Raducanu Pulls Out Of French Open Qualifying Amid Injury Concerns
Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the French Open qualifying rounds, which commence on Monday. The British tennis player, who has faced numerous injuries since her 2021 US Open victory, was set to enter the year's second Grand Slam with a protected ranking of 103rd. However, this ranking did not secure her an automatic entry, and she was not granted a wildcard, making her the third alternate for the women's draw.
No official reason has been provided for Raducanu's withdrawal from the upcoming qualifying tournament. As it stands, she can only participate in Roland-Garros if three players withdraw. Last month, Raducanu was defeated 6-2, 6-2 by Argentine qualifier Maria Lourdes Carle in the first round of the Madrid Open. Following this match, she expressed that she was mentally and emotionally exhausted.

Earlier this year, a series of withdrawals allowed Raducanu to bypass qualifying for the Australian Open. However, she was eliminated in the second round by China's Wang Yafan. Since her triumph at Flushing Meadows, Raducanu has not advanced past the second round in six major tournaments. She missed last year's French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open due to wrist and ankle surgeries.
