Djokovic Cherishes Wimbledon Dream Despite Defeat To Alcaraz
Novak Djokovic cherishes every moment he spends on Wimbledon’s Centre Court, even after his straight-sets loss to Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday. Despite the defeat, Djokovic remains grateful for the opportunity to play in such a prestigious setting.
Djokovic faced Alcaraz in a rematch of last year’s final but was defeated 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4). This match marked his 10th Wimbledon final, an impressive feat considering his recent recovery from knee surgery following the French Open. A victory would have tied him with Roger Federer’s record of eight men’s singles titles at Wimbledon.

After the match, Djokovic chose to focus on the positives. "I have to be very proud," he said. "Obviously, it’s a bit of a disappointment right now, but when I reflect on the last couple of weeks and the last four to five weeks and what I’ve been through, along with my team members and family, I’m very satisfied."
He expressed gratitude for fulfilling his childhood dream of playing on Centre Court. "Wimbledon was always the childhood dream of mine, playing on the centre stage," he added. The experience remains surreal for him each time he steps onto that court.
Djokovic is a 24-time major champion and has hinted at a possible future in coaching his children if they choose to pursue tennis. "My kids, they now start to like tennis a little bit," he mentioned with a smile towards his family. He is unsure if he has the patience for coaching but is willing to support their interests.
He also acknowledged his team’s unwavering support throughout his career. "I want to say thanks to my whole team, physio, everyone, for sticking with me through good and bad times. We’re the only ones who know what we’ve been through," Djokovic stated.
Despite the recent setback, Djokovic remains optimistic about his journey and continues to appreciate every moment on one of tennis's most iconic stages.
