Djokovic Anticipates 'One Last Dance' With Nadal In Paris Olympics Showdown
Novak Djokovic is excited about the possibility of facing Rafael Nadal at the Paris Olympics, provided Nadal recovers from his injury to compete at Roland-Garros. The men's singles draw on Thursday paired Djokovic with Australia's Matthew Ebden in the first round, while Nadal will face Marton Fucsovics. If both advance, they could meet in the second round this weekend.
The legendary pair have a storied history, having faced each other 59 times. Djokovic has won 30 of these encounters but lost four of their last six matches. Their most recent clash was at the 2022 French Open quarter-finals, where Nadal triumphed in four sets. Despite Nadal's recent injury setback, Djokovic is eager for another showdown.

Nadal's participation in the Games became uncertain after his coach Carlos Moya revealed that he needed 48 hours of rest due to a setback. If Nadal competes, it could be their 60th meeting and potentially one of their last matches together. "Obviously he hasn't played much. His ranking dropped, so there was always going to be that possibility of me meeting him in an early round and there we go," Djokovic said.
Djokovic is set to make his fifth Olympic appearance in Paris, tying with Yen Hsun Lu for the most by any male player since tennis returned to the Games in 1988. He holds records for the most matches played (19) and joint-most matches won (13, tied with Roger Federer) at the Olympics since then.
Despite these records, Djokovic's best Olympic result remains a Bronze medal from Beijing 2008. He lost to eventual gold medallist Nadal in the semi-finals and later lost the bronze medal match to Pablo Carreno Busta at Tokyo 2020. Additionally, he was defeated by Juan Martin del Potro at both London 2012 and Rio 2016.
"It's going to be a spectacle, definitely, if we get to meet," Djokovic added. "We will spread some fireworks on the court, like the good old times. I hope we get to meet because it will probably be one last dance for the both of us."

The prospect of another epic battle between Djokovic and Nadal is thrilling for tennis enthusiasts worldwide. Their rivalry has defined an era in tennis history, making every encounter memorable.
