Boulter Triumphs With Comeback To Retain Nottingham Open Title
Katie Boulter successfully defended her Nottingham Open title on Sunday, overcoming Karolina Pliskova 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the final. Both players had to compete in two matches on the same day. Pliskova initially dominated, taking the first set in just 39 minutes before fatigue began to affect her performance.
Boulter, however, found her rhythm and fought back to force a deciding set. She broke Pliskova's serve three times in the final set to secure the victory. Earlier in the day, Boulter triumphed in an all-British semi-final against Emma Raducanu. Their match had been suspended on Saturday due to bad weather.

Raducanu won the first set after an 80-minute tie-break but could not maintain her momentum on Sunday. Boulter came from behind to win 6-7 (13-15), 6-3, 6-4. This victory marked Boulter's second title of the season.
Liudmila Samsonova also had a successful weekend, winning her first title of the season at the Libema Open in 's-Hertogenbosch. She defeated Bianca Andreescu 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the final. Like Boulter, Samsonova came from a set down to clinch the win.
Boulter and Pliskova have now faced each other five times, with all their matches going to a decisive third set. In this latest encounter, Boulter won 77 per cent of her service games (10/13) and 43 per cent of her return games (6/14), which is double the amount won by Pliskova.
| Player | Service Games Won | Return Games Won |
|---|---|---|
| Katie Boulter | 77% (10/13) | 43% (6/14) |
| Karolina Pliskova | - | - |
This victory highlights Boulter's resilience and ability to perform under pressure. Her performance throughout the day demonstrated her physical and mental toughness, securing her position as a formidable competitor on the tennis circuit.
The Nottingham Open win adds another accolade to Boulter's growing list of achievements this season. Meanwhile, Samsonova's triumph at the Libema Open marks a significant milestone in her career, setting a positive tone for the rest of her season.
