Andy Murray Bows Out With Injury In Likely Final Queen's Appearance
Andy Murray's likely final appearance at the Queen's Club Championships ended in disappointment on Wednesday as he was forced to retire from his second-round match against Jordan Thompson. Murray had previously beaten Alexei Popyrin in his 1,000th match on the ATP Tour on Monday, setting up his contest with Thompson.
Thompson broke Murray's serve in the very first game. The five-time Queen's champion looked uncomfortable from the start and requested a medical timeout after holding serve in the third game. He received treatment on his back and hip but attempted to continue. However, he had to retire just two games later, giving a rueful look as he waved farewell to the crowd.

Murray has repeatedly mentioned that he is likely to retire later this year. Despite this, he has expressed a desire to play at both Wimbledon and the Olympic Games in Paris. On Monday, he was included in Team GB's squad for the Olympics. Wimbledon begins on July 1, and Murray hopes to appear at a fourth straight edition of the competition he has won twice, after missing the 2018 and 2019 tournaments.
