Carlos Alcaraz Triumphs Over J.J. Wolf, Moves Into French Open Round Two
Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the French Open second round with a straight-sets victory over J.J. Wolf on Sunday. The Spaniard, who reached the semi-finals at Roland-Garros last year, began his 2024 campaign with a 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 win. Alcaraz will face either Jack Draper or Jesper de Jong in the next round.
Alcaraz, the youngest player in the Open Era to reach the round of 16 at seven consecutive majors, dominated Wolf on Court Philippe-Chatrier. The world number three secured a 1-0 lead after just 37 minutes. Wolf held his serve for the first time in the second set but soon fell behind 5-1.

A series of impressive winners helped Alcaraz break Wolf twice in the third set. The two-time major winner made quick work under the roof as rain poured in Paris. Alcaraz's performance left little doubt about his form and readiness for the tournament.

Wolf, a lucky loser aiming for his first top-10 win, struggled against Alcaraz. The Spaniard has won all 13 of his first-round matches at grand slam tournaments. Additionally, Alcaraz holds a record of 21-1 against players ranked outside the top 50 at major events, with his only loss to Mikael Ymer at the 2021 Australian Open.
Alcaraz's consistent performance highlights his potential to go deep into this year's French Open. His ability to dominate early rounds sets a strong foundation for future matches.
