Under UAE President's Directives, 65,000 Books Distributed To Schools

Following the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a significant and educational initiative has been launched across the United Arab Emirates, distributing 65,000 books to libraries in 220 schools. This initiative, facilitated by a financial grant, underscores the commitment to enhancing the educational resources of schools and fostering a reading culture among students. The books, selected from the offerings of 77 publishing houses that participated in the 33rd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, aim to enrich the knowledge base and expand the educational resources available to students throughout the UAE.

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), emphasized the importance of the Arabic language as a cornerstone of cultural and intellectual identity. He stated, "The Arabic language, with its diverse and rich literary heritage, is more than just a means of communication. It is a powerful and inclusive tool for innovative and critical thinking." Al Mubarak further highlighted that the grant aims to encourage reading, protect the language, and foster an understanding that bridges cultures and unites people who speak Arabic. This, he noted, ensures the continuation of collective wisdom for future generations.

Continuing Legacy and Support

Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), remarked on the ongoing support from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the culture and education sectors. He appreciated the President's inspirational leadership and commitment to maintaining competitiveness in the local and Arab publishing markets, as well as positioning the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair as a premier platform for knowledge promotion. Dr. bin Tamim referenced the initiative as a continuation of the legacy initiated by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE, highlighting its role in upholding the esteem of the publishing and knowledge sectors.

Enhancing Creative Imagination and Knowledge

The distribution of books through this grant not only reinforces the UAE's intellectual and cultural path but also offers students a wide and diverse range of knowledge resources. The titles featured at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair were carefully selected to stimulate creative imagination and enhance the connection of young generations with books. Moreover, this initiative provides a vital boost to the publishing sector and book industry, enabling them to continue their valuable contributions and expand their reach. This strategic move underscores the UAE's dedication to nurturing a literate, knowledgeable, and culturally aware society, building on the rich literary heritage of the Arabic language.

This initiative highlights the UAE's commitment to education, culture, and the promotion of reading among the youth. By investing in the future generations, the UAE continues to build a strong foundation for sustained intellectual growth and cultural prosperity.
