Sunmarke School Secures Top Spot At The Prestigious U11 BSME Games
In a stellar display of skill and determination, Sunmarke School's primary students from Year 5 and 6 achieved a remarkable milestone by clinching the overall first place at the prestigious U11 British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) Games. This notable win was underscored by their triumphs in girls' football, athletics, and boys' basketball, thereby setting a new standard for youth sports excellence.
The competition spanned an exciting three days from 1 to 3 March 2024, witnessing Sunmarke School's young athletes put forth outstanding performances across various sports. The girls' football team secured a win in the finals with a score of 1-0, while the boys' basketball team won a close match with a score of 11-10. Martina, with her exceptional play, won the Most Valuable Player title in girls' football, exemplifying Sunmarke's dedication to fostering individual talent within a comprehensive sports programme.

Noteworthy Performances And Sportsmanship
Despite finishing in 7th place in swimming and 5th in girls' netball, the boys' football team made a valiant effort, finishing in 2nd place after a 2-0 loss. The highlight came on Sunday when Sunmarke athletes dominated the athletics events, with Nyla setting a new high jump record of 1.37m. Other notable achievements included second-place finishes in the 75m sprint by Bilal and Nyla, a third-place finish in high jump by Jayden, a second-place finish in the 600m track race by Martina, and a second-place win in javelin by Yusuf. The relay teams added to the glory, with the girls' team winning the Gold Medal and the boys' team securing the Silver Medal.
