New App To Provide Financial Aid To University Students In Oman

In a significant move aimed at assisting university students grappling with financial hardships, the Siraj Education Endowment Foundation has unveiled a new application named 'Siraj’. The app was officially launched at a ceremony in Muscat, under the patronage of H.E. Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrooqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

Nasr Nasser al Rahbi, the creative mind behind the Siraj app, elaborated on its primary function as a tool for gathering donations to aid university students facing financial challenges. "The goal of the application is to make higher education accessible to all young individuals, irrespective of their financial situations," Rahbi stated. He highlighted the app’s role in enabling the community to directly support students in need, thereby promoting social justice and contributing to the development of a more inclusive and forward-thinking society.

Significantly, Rahbi pointed out that the platform is not limited to individual contributions. Businesses can also donate to the cause through the Siraj Education Endowment Foundation’s donations page, found at https://sirajfoundation.om. Furthermore, he announced the upcoming feature allowing donations for all cases through the Siraj app on both Android and iOS smartphones, broadening the avenues for support.

In conjunction with the app’s launch, the foundation has initiated the 'University Student Sponsorship’ programme, specifically targeting university students from low-income or needy families, particularly those enrolled in private higher education institutions without access to financial aid from other sources. The program aims to alleviate the financial burden on these students by offering monthly financial assistance to cover essential expenses such as transportation, rent, and living costs, enabling them to devote their full attention to their academic pursuits.

Donations and contributions to the Siraj foundation can be made through the Meethaq A/C 0631500571440001. This initiative represents a significant step towards equalising opportunities for higher education, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder the academic aspirations of young individuals in the community.
