Coding And Online Safety: Samsung Launches Innovative AI Pioneers Programme In UAE Schools

Samsung Gulf Electronics is taking a significant step towards integrating artificial intelligence (AI) education within the UAE's school curriculum. This initiative aims to educate over 4,000 students in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The focus is not only on AI but also on coding, content creation, and online safety. This move is a part of the Galaxy AI Pioneers (GAIP) program, which seeks to immerse students in various AI-related disciplines directly in their classrooms.

The program is an expansion of Samsung's commitment to nurturing talent and innovation among the UAE's youth, particularly those aged 12-17. The curriculum is diverse, covering AI and Python fundamentals, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, AI robotics, and natural language processing. This broad educational spectrum is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need in a rapidly evolving digital world.

The GAIP curriculum encompasses three main areas: a comprehensive coding and AI track to build foundational technical skills, a content development module that leverages Galaxy AI tools for creative expression, and a digital safety course to promote responsible technology use. This holistic approach aims to prepare students not only with technical abilities but also with the awareness to navigate the digital landscape safely.

The program's initial phase includes 15 schools following British, American, and IB curriculums, targeting students aged 11-14. Participants will gain hands-on experience with Galaxy AI devices and explore real-world applications of the technology. This practical approach is designed to foster a deep understanding of technology and its ethical use.

A unique aspect of this initiative is its emphasis on involving parents in their children's digital education. To this end, a specialized course on online safety will be offered to 900 parents, providing a solid support network for students as they explore the digital world.

Shafi Alam, Director and Head of Direct-to-Consumer Business & Corporate Marketing at Samsung Gulf Electronics, emphasized the significance of integrating AI and digital literacy into the educational framework. "This evolution of the Galaxy AI Pioneers program represents a pivotal moment in UAE's educational landscape. This initiative is in line with the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, aiming to bolster the nation's standing as a hub for technological innovation and educational excellence. The 2024 GAIP program has already seen significant milestones, with three batches of young innovators trained during the summer holidays. Moving from an extracurricular activity to a core part of the academic curriculum signifies Samsung's dedication to making advanced technology education accessible to all UAE youth.
