Pearson has announced that the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic is now accepted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for undergraduate admissions. This recognition is effective immediately.

MIT, which ranks third in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings this year, joins over 3,500 universities and institutions worldwide that accept PTE as proof of English proficiency. The prestigious institution currently hosts 3,465 international students.

MIT Accepts PTE Academic

PTE's acceptance by MIT adds to its growing list of recognitions. Recently, the Canadian Nurse Regulators Collaborative (CNRC) also approved PTE Academic as an accepted test for internationally trained nurses seeking registration in Canada.

PTE combines human expertise with advanced AI technology to deliver an impartial and highly accurate English language proficiency test. The tests are conducted on computers and are available at more than 475 test centers globally.

Shileen Costain, Senior Director of Global Stakeholder Relations at Pearson, expressed her pride in this achievement: "We are thrilled that MIT has recognized the value and accuracy of PTE Academic for its undergraduate admissions. This approval underscores our commitment to providing a trusted and rigorous assessment of English proficiency for students and institutions worldwide."

This new recognition from MIT highlights the growing trust in PTE's ability to provide reliable assessments. It further solidifies Pearson's position as a leading provider of English language proficiency tests.

The inclusion of MIT among institutions accepting PTE is significant given its prestigious status and large international student body. This move will likely encourage other top-tier universities to consider adopting PTE for their admission processes.

With its combination of human expertise and AI technology, PTE ensures a fair and precise evaluation of English language skills. The widespread availability of test centers makes it accessible to students around the world.

This development marks another milestone for Pearson in its mission to support lifelong learning through innovative assessments. As more institutions recognize PTE, it continues to set a high standard for English language testing globally.
