Under the guidance of Professor Yoshihiko Nakamura, chair of the robotics department, the lab serves as the core of MBZUAI's robotics education. The robotics department, established in 2023, welcomed its first cohort of 18 students in August. With plans to expand its faculty to more than 15 members within two years, the university is poised for significant growth. The faculty at MBZUAI brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the program. Professor Nakamura, before joining MBZUAI, dedicated 33 years to the University of Tokyo, where he became a renowned figure in humanoid robotics and human-robot interaction. Additionally, Professor Haddadin, known for his pioneering work, leads the Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI) at TUM, recognized as one of the world's leading robotics and AI institutes.
