Future Forward: Khalifa University Is Now Offering B.Sc In Robotics & AI

Khalifa University of Science and Technology has introduced a full-time Bachelor's programme in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This new academic offering aims to provide students with the essential knowledge and skills needed for technological progress and innovation in these fields.

The curriculum is interdisciplinary, combining theoretical learning with practical experience. It covers robotics, AI, computer, electronic and mechanical engineering, and mathematics. This prepares graduates for diverse careers in a rapidly expanding sector.

Students will engage with the latest developments in robotics and AI technology. They will explore emerging trends like autonomous vehicles and drones, developing systems that enhance human-robot interaction. Healthcare robotics for surgical assistance, rehabilitation, and elderly care are also growing fields included in the programme.

State-of-the-art Offerings

The Bachelor of Science programme includes AI algorithms and machine learning for cognition, data analysis, and automation. Foundational courses cover mathematics, computer science, computer engineering, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, and AI ethics. This comprehensive approach ensures students are well-rounded in their education.

Khalifa University's facilities include advanced robotics laboratories equipped with cutting-edge hardware and software. Students will gain hands-on experience in labs such as the Robot Navigation and Control Lab, Robot Sensing and Perception Lab, and Robot Systems Lab. Each lab spans around 100 square meters and features motion tracking systems along with various robot platforms.

Students will participate in projects creating robotic and AI prototypes for applications like manufacturing or exploring hazardous environments. The programme also integrates aspects of sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship throughout its courses. In addition to designing robotic systems for various uses, students will delve into AI algorithms for cognition tasks. They will also learn about machine learning techniques for data analysis and automation processes.

Khalifa University of Science and Technology this year jumped five slots to be ranked top in the UAE and 40th in Asia in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2024, which has evaluated 739 universities from 31 countries/territories. Khalifa University also jumped four places to be ranked 2nd among Arab universities mentioned in the THE Asia University Rankings 2024.
