Over 100 Primary Students Shine At Inaugural Junior DIAMUN Conference
Dubai International Academy (DIA) Emirates Hills recently hosted a landmark event, marking the inauguration of the first-ever Junior DIAMUN conference. An impressive assembly of 105 student delegates, hailing from over 60 nationalities and representing five schools under the aegis of Innoventures Education, convened to partake in this Model United Nations (MUN) Conference. Themed "Innovating towards a sustainable future", this initiative stands as a testament to the institution's commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of global diplomacy and international relations among younger students.
Model UN simulations have long been esteemed for their role in educating students about the intricacies of diplomacy and global affairs. Building on the 16-year legacy of its counterpart for senior students, Junior DIAMUN has been specifically crafted to suit primary school attendees. The conference's main objective lies in encouraging young delegates to delve into pressing global issues, offering solutions through debate and written proposals. This educational venture also aims to enhance participants' abilities in public speaking, research, critical thinking, and self-management.

Participants from all five schools operated by Innoventures Education, including DIA Emirates Hills, DIA Al Barsha, Raffles International School, Raffles World Academy, and Collegiate International School, assumed the roles of UN delegates from various countries. Engaged in committee debates, they tackled significant matters such as gender disparity, disaster preparedness, and climate change, thereby stepping into the shoes of international diplomats.
Poonam Bhojani, CEO of Innoventures Education, expressed immense pride in the students' successful orchestration of the inaugural Junior DIAMUN conference. She highlighted the event as an exceptional platform for the young minds to enhance their critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills, all while embracing the ethos of global citizenship. Bhojani's enthusiasm extends to the prospect of this event evolving into a long-standing tradition and eagerly anticipated fixture on the organisation's annual calendar, akin to its senior counterpart, DIAMUN.
The Junior DIAMUN conference not only provides a unique opportunity for primary school students to engage with complex global issues but also serves as a nurturing ground for the next generation of diplomats, thinkers, and leaders. By simulating the roles of UN delegates, students gain invaluable insights into the workings of international diplomacy, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the challenges of an interconnected world. Innoventures Education's initiative in launching Junior DIAMUN underscores their dedication to innovative education practices that prepare students for the future, fostering a sense of global responsibility and citizenship from an early age.
