IMG Academy And Nord Anglia Launch Groundbreaking Sports Camp In Dubai

IMG Academy and Nord Anglia Education are launching a global sports and wellbeing collaboration. This initiative will allow student-athletes in Dubai, UAE, to join an IMG Academy sports camp, previously exclusive to Bradenton, Fla. The camp will run from 15–20 December at Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai.

The camp offers basketball and football training for ages 12-18. It includes technical training led by IMG Academy's expert coaches, advanced techniques, game situations, and competitions. The wellbeing aspect covers confidence, resilience, commitment, working under pressure, and focus.

Proven Expertise in Sports Training

IMG Academy has a strong track record in basketball and football training. Since 2005, it has produced 21 NBA Draft selections, with 13 chosen in the first round. Over the past two years, more than two dozen alumni have competed in NCAA Men's and Women's Collegiate Basketball Tournaments.

In football, alumna Michelle Cooper was selected second overall in the National Women's Soccer League Draft in 2023. Three boys' football alumni were taken in the Major League Soccer Super Draft the same year. Fifteen current boys' football students represented 13 countries' national teams in 2023-24.

Holistic Approach to Student-Athlete Development

IMG Academy's holistic approach supports complete student-athlete development through its boarding school, sports camps, online coaching, and college recruiting services. Last year alone, its on-campus and online products facilitated over 30,000 student-athletes' placement onto college sports rosters in the United States.

The collaboration between IMG Academy and Nord Anglia Education aims to provide global access to IMG Academy's renowned sports and wellbeing programs. This partnership also focuses on enhancing Nord Anglia's sports program for its more than 80,000 students worldwide.

Expanding Opportunities for Student-Athletes

The sports camp is open to non-Nord Anglia student-athletes throughout the region. Students can reside on campus in purpose-built boarding houses as part of the programme. This provides opportunities for students from the wider Middle East region and internationally to participate.

"Becoming a successful student-athlete involves far more than just talent and physical abilities," said an IMG Academy spokesperson. "That's why our camps equip students with the right mindset to excel."

Collaborative Efforts for Enhanced Learning

Since April 2023, IMG Academy has been Nord Anglia's newest collaboration partner for students and teachers. This partnership joins other world-leading institutions like MIT, The Juilliard School, and UNICEF that provide life-changing experiences for students.

As part of this collaboration, IMG Academy is piloting its mental performance and nutrition coaching product at Nord Anglia schools globally. Nord Anglia is working with IMG Academy to enhance its academic curriculum and integrate best practices into teaching for student-athletes.

This initiative solidifies IMG Academy's position as a global leader in sports education by providing a holistic education both on and off the field.
