Dubai South And GEMS Education Partner To Launch New British Curriculum School
Dubai South has signed an agreement with GEMS Education to establish the GEMS Founders School – Dubai South. The operation of this world-class British school in the burgeoning Dubai South Residential District awaits approval from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority. Strategically alongside Expo Road, the school boasts easy access for neighbouring communities, including Expo City Dubai.
The ceremonial signing of the agreement was witnessed by notable figures such as HE Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South; Sunny Varkey, Chairman and Founder of GEMS Education; Nabil Al Kindi, CEO of Dubai South Properties; and Dino Varkey, Group Chief Executive Officer of GEMS Education, alongside other senior executives from both entities.
Khalifa Al Zaffin stated: "We are pleased to sign this agreement with a renowned school operator." He highlighted Dubai South's commitment to supporting the UAE's leadership vision of attracting one million residents to the area, post-completion of Al Maktoum International Airport, by offering top-notch services and amenities. This move is aligned with the government's ambition to propel the UAE education sector forward.
Sunny Varkey mirrored this sentiment, emphasizing GEMS Education's honor in collaborating on this visionary project. "By bringing our well-loved GEMS Founders brand to this important area, we are proud to contribute to the advancement of the UAE's thriving education sector as part of the UAE's transformative journey," he remarked.
A New Educational Landmark
GEMS Founders School – Dubai South, set to be the fourth institution under the Founders brand and the first in Dubai South, will initially welcome students in FS1 to Year 8, following the National Curriculum for England. The school will span a 250,000 square-foot campus with state-of-the-art facilities to cater to students aged 3 to 18.
With a phased construction plan, the school aims to serve students up to Year 13, reaching a total capacity of over 2,500 students. Its doors are scheduled to open for the new academic year in August 2024, with registrations starting on the 1st of June.
World-Class Facilities and Programs
The campus will feature spacious classrooms, advanced labs for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), along with fully equipped food tech and ICT labs, art and music rooms, and specialized classrooms for language and Islamic studies. Sporting facilities will include a 25-metre competition-standard swimming pool and various courts and halls for an array of sports.
